Start with the garment care label
Different prints, trims and constructions can need different care, so always follow the care label supplied with the garment first. For regular cotton-blended maternity wear, gentle handling can help maintain the shape, colour and surface of the fabric.
Wash gently
Use a mild detergent and avoid unnecessarily harsh washing. If the garment has a strong print, turning it inside out before washing can reduce direct rubbing on the outer surface. Wash similar colours together to reduce the risk of colour transfer.
Avoid excessive heat
High heat can affect many blended fabrics and printed garments. Use the temperature recommended on the care label and avoid applying very high heat directly to printed areas.
Dry with the shape in mind
After washing, gently reshape the garment and dry it according to its care instructions. Do not pull or twist the fabric aggressively, especially around gathered maternity sections and feeding details.
Store clean and dry
Make sure the garment is completely dry before folding or hanging it. Keeping maternity wear in a clean, dry wardrobe helps it stay ready for repeated use throughout pregnancy and the nursing stage.
